Tsicuri (God's Eye) Tsicuris are amde by the Huichol, an indigenous group in Mexico. The are also commonly called God's Eyes or Ojo de Dios. They are spiritual items used in ensuring a child's safety. Tsicuris are stuck in the ground at the Tatei Neixa (First Fruits and Thanksgiving ceremonies). The thread goes from the God's Eye to the Shaman's drum. The cotton represents the soul of children who travel to and from the Holy Land. Symbolically, Our Mother is watching over the children on a pilgrimage to the east, where the Sun, Our Father, rises.. http://www.mexconnect.com/mex_/huichol/huicholindex.html http://www.caron-net.com/kidfiles/kidsapr.html |
